LOG WASHER SHAFT ASSEMBLIES
These Log Washer Shafts are an example of improved design through practical solutions and Client Operational and Maintenance engagement.
Our long-term Client had issues with the OEM’s Original Shafts breaking in two pieces prematurely. MEA undertook various practical solutions to provide our Client with an economical and successful result. Significant wear at the load point accounted for the weakening of the parent material.
MEA designed a simple solution for the wear by installing Chromium Carbide ‘Chocolate Bars’ over the Feed End of the Shaft and on each Paddle Cleat.
Strengthening the heavy wall Pipe with Machine Spigots on each end and installing KI045 Stub Shaft Ends, which are welded and plugged using MEA’s in-house Weld Procedures and Thermal Stress Relieving. Each Flange End is final Machined by MEA, to ensure alignment to the critical plant within our Clients Mine.
